Diferences between the left and right side of the brain

How the Brain Works

The brain is made up of two halves, or hemispheres – the left brain and the right brain. These parts are connected to each other by a thick cable of nerves at the base of each brain, called the corpus collosum. A good analogy is that of two separate, incredibly fast and immensely powerful computers, each running different programs from the same input, connected by a network cable, or the corpus collosum.

Left Hemisphere

The left hemisphere processes information analytically and sequentially, step by step in a logical and linear form. It contains the ability for math, reading and writing, getting new information by using data already available to form new ideas or data that already have.

Right Hemisphere

The right hemisphere seems to specialize in global perception, synthesizing the information that reaches it. With it we see things in space, and how to combine the parts into the whole. Thanks to the right hemisphere, we understand metaphors, we dream, we create new combinations of ideas. It’s intuitive rather than logical, thinks in images, symbols and feelings. Is imaginative and fantastic.

The two halves of our brains cooperate by agreeing that one of them will be in charge. On many jobs they take turns being the boss, handing the responsibility back and forth between themselves every few seconds, minutes, or hours. This is called dominant hemisphere.

In right-handers, the dominant brain hemisphere is the left and left-handers is the right.

Most people are right handed but here's a sampling of all the famous.
